
About Dr. Ramona E. Jackson-James
Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
Dr. Ramona E. James, Ed.D. was born and raised on the south side of Chicago, Illinois. She received her early education from Chicago Public Schools and is a graduate of Kenwood Academy High School. Dr. James has a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Social Work from Loyola University of Chicago and Clark Atlanta University, and an earned doctorate in Organizational Leadership from Argosy University. Dr. James has worked in non-profit organizations and higher-education nearly 30 years. Currently, she is graduate adjunct faculty and faculty mentor at Purdue University Global in the department of human services in the college of Arts and Sciences. She has over 15 years of experience in higher education. Her higher education experience includes recruitment and admissions, curriculum, faculty, consultation, grant writing, diversity equity and inclusion, and accreditation.
Accents Events and Consulting, is her passion! AEC is a firm that provides event coordination, planning, event rentals, and business consultation which includes grant writing, and assistance with securing 501c3 designations. Her community reach includes partnerships with other academic institutions of higher learning, various health profession entities, community organizations, political officials, and health professionals. Dr. James has over 25 years of non-profit experience extending across the Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana areas. This experience includes organizational leadership and management, program development, strategic planning, grant writing, notary services, operational oversight, and fiscal management.
Clinically, she has worked as a therapist, group leader, and trainer. She is a published author and has presented and served as a panelist for many community health focused events, retreats, workshops, and seminars. She is a proud member of the Chicago Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She is the past President of the National Council of Negro Women Chicago Central Section and is the interim NCNW Illinois State President. Additionally, Dr. James serves on several boards including the Community Advisory Review Council for the Institute of Translational Medicine (CARC) at the University of Chicago Medicine. She is a charter member of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc. Will County Black Diamond chapter and serves a Trustee at First Corinthians Missionary Baptist Church. Dr. James considers her greatest achievement is her sons Ramon and Malik.


Boss Lady Leadership Journal
In 2024, Dr. James released Boss Lady Leadership Journal. The book is a labor of love to all of those who are leaders and aspiring to become leaders. Dr. James has a lengthy leadership career and over the years her colleagues and teams would call her affectionately, 'Boss Lady' and the name stuck. A boss is not mean. A boss is someone is someone who is in charge or dominates a worker, group, or organization. It can also mean excellent A leader motivates and inspires others to action. You may say to yourself, I am a little of both. All leaders have boss tendencies. You need to figure out for yourself who and what you are. This journal can help you.
